Bellwether, in essence, means to lead. It is a pace-setter, trail-blazer, or one who shows the way forward. Today, the term bellwether has been used in politics as "a bellwether state" and in finance for "a bellwether stock." In its original meaning, the bellwether was the lead sheep in a flock.
As a church, we want to raise leaders of the flock who follow the Shepherd. We want to be a church focused on raising leaders (bellwethers), who then raise families, who then raise the Kingdom.
And, we want the church to be a bellwether in the world today.
