Missions

At Bellwether, our mission is to Raise Leaders, who Raise Families, who Raise His Kingdom.  Thus, we want to empower people to use their God given gifts, be in relationship with others, and go out to raise Jesus' Kingdom in the world.

Okay, sounds good you might say......but how does this happen? Great question - here are two ways:

1) At Bellwether we're literally "on mission" of building a church. A great way to serve is to be more involved in this mission. You could help on our set-up team, serving in our family ministry, helping with media, or welcoming people as they arrive on Sunday morning.

2) In terms of our missions outside Bellwether's walls, we do missions primarily, but not solely, through our Bellwether Groups. We hope our groups adopt a mission to serve, pray for, and contribute to. We've targeted 5 mission projects we want to focus in on.  We believe we make a greater Kingdom impact with a focused, targeted approach.  They are:

Stewpot Ministries - www.stewpot.org - We have a group that goes down each Tuesday for heARTworks, and we lead worship there once a month.  This is a great way to serve the least, lost, and overlooked.

His Heart Ministries - www.hisheartofjackson.org - Working with Calvary Baptist Church we deliver food during the holidays and adopt needy families.

Fondren - www.fondren.org - Being in Fondren, we want to be a blessing to this community.  We work with Fondren Renaissance Association to see ways our groups can serve in this creative, vibrant community.  Also, we plan on opening our space for community concerts, basketball, and other free events.

Honduras & Salt and Light - www.saltandlightministrie.org - God opened a door for our church to go and serve the people of Honduras through Salt and Light.  We will continue to go to this country each year to build homes, do medical work, Vacation Bible School, and preach at churches.

Uganda - Scott and Meg Rambo - scottandmegrambo.blogspot.com or World Gospel Missions - www.wgm.org.  Scott, Meg, and their son Tim were some of the founding members of Bellwether.  They are following God's call to go to Uganda to train pastors.  We want to support them all we can - through prayer, finances, and by going to see them.  By helping them, we will be raising His Kingdom in Uganda.
